Meet your words where you were already reading
Reviewing a word on a card teaches you the card. Meeting it in a sentence you were going to read anyway teaches you the word. The extension swaps in vocabulary you have already learned, on the sites you allow, and clicking one shows the meaning, plays it, and lets you say you had forgotten it.
The page never leaves your browser. Matching happens locally; nothing about what you read is sent anywhere.

Why the browser is where a vocabulary habit survives
The failure mode of every review app is the same: you install it, you review for two weeks, and then one busy day breaks the chain. What keeps a habit alive is not willpower, it is the number of places the habit can happen. The web app is the one you open on purpose; the extension is the one that happens to you while you are doing something else.
That is also why the extension only swaps words you have already learned. It is not a translation layer and it is not teaching you anything new — it is putting a word you have answered correctly a few times back in front of you in a real sentence, which is where the recall is worth having.
What it asks for
Permission per site, granted by you, one site at a time. There is no install-time request for access to every page, and there is no version of Rayaad that reads a page you did not allow. The one thing it uploads is a review — the same review the app would have recorded.

About the web app and extension
Do I need to install anything to use Rayaad?
No. Open app.rayaad.com in any modern browser and you have the full product. You can also install it to your dock or home screen from the browser's own menu, which gives it a window of its own and keeps it working offline.
Does the web app work offline?
Yes. Your decks, cards and review history are mirrored on the device, so a session with no connection works normally and the answers are pushed when you are back. Audio you have played before is cached too.
What does the browser extension actually do?
It looks for words you have already learned in the page you are reading and swaps them in, so you meet your vocabulary in real sentences rather than only on a card. Clicking one shows what it means, plays it, and lets you mark that you had forgotten it — which counts as a review.
Does the extension send the pages I read to Rayaad?
No. The matching happens entirely inside your browser. The address of the page and the text on it are never sent to Rayaad or to anyone else; what the extension downloads is your own word list, and what it sends back is a review, exactly as if you had done it in the app.
Which sites does the extension run on?
Only the ones you grant it, one at a time. It does not ask for permission to every site at install, so the pages it can see are the pages you chose.
Can I get the extension now?
Not yet from a store. It is built for both Chrome and Firefox and is in a trusted beta while the store listings are prepared; the download page tracks what is actually installable today.
